Our expert commercial services support clients in their sustainable development and we conduct highly significant research both as part of the development process and independently within our own framework.

ABOUT THE ROLE

MOLA is continuing to grow at a fast pace, and we are looking to recruit hard-working and enthusiastic Archaeologists to join our Northampton field team. MOLA have a policy of mentoring and training staff at all levels in order to develop individual capability and enhance career prospects, with opportunities for internal advancement and promotion, as well as developing specialist skills.

Recent highlights from our Northampton office include a large Anglo-Saxon settlement and cemetery , Neolithic burials, extensive Iron Age and Roman settlements, and part of a Medieval manorial complex.

  • We have several exciting projects of all sizes, covering different types of archaeology, ongoing or due to start imminently. Our teams are currently working on infrastructure, residential and commercial developments. Examples of projects include: A project with Multi phased archaeology in East Anglia.
  • Iron age settlement sites in Northamptonshire

The role primarily involves excavating and recording archaeology of various periods on a range of site and project types, in line with MOLA procedures. Training may be provided to monitor machining on site, to use GPS to record archaeological features, and there may be opportunities to contribute to post-excavation processes as well.

The role will be contracted to the MOLA Northampton office, with work taking place on projects within Northamptonshire and out of county, transport from the Northampton office to sites is provided in MOLA fleet Vehicles.  subsistence and accommodation costs are provided for away working in line with MOLA policy.

We are looking for people with:

  • Use or knowledge of archaeological recording systems
  • Experience of commercial archaeological fieldwork.
  • Good organisational, communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to creating a safe, positive and inclusive work environment.
  • We are particularly interested in applications from archaeologists who would be willing to drive for MOLA.

We have start dates available throughout April and May, phone interviews will be conducted throughout March and the beginning of April. Contracts are initially for 4 months  with the possibility for extension.
